The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office most wanted person of the week is:
Rene Castro Jr. of Fresno. A judge has issued an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon.
A young woman called the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office after her boyfriend assaulted her. Deputies responded to the area of Barstow and Dower Avenues in Fresno and contacted the victim on the street. Deputies learned that she and Rene Castro got into an argument at his house. He punched her in the arm, shoulder and head, leaving her with scratches and bruises. He also threw a 30 pound dumbbell at her, which just missed hitting her. She was able to leave the home and call for help.
As a deputy was speaking with the victim, Castro drove by. The deputy made a traffic stop and arrested him. Castro was later booked into the Fresno County Jail. He spent three days in custody and was released after posting bond to bail out.
