Steven Anthony Macias of Fresno. A judge has issued an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on felony charges of vehicle theft, evading a peace officer and reckless driving.
On July 25, 2016, a Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a car driven by Steven Macias. This occurred near the intersection of Blackstone and Griffith in Fresno. Macias refused to stop and accelerated away from the deputy. Macias ran several stop signs and drove on the wrong side of the road, nearly striking other motorists while trying to get away. He eventually drove on the sidewalk, into a dirt field and crashed his car into the support pole of a carport. Macias got out and ran. Additional deputies responded along with the CHP helicopter and they found Macias hiding in some bushes of a neighborhood near Ashlan and Cornelia.
Deputies learned the car Macias was driving was stolen. He is on probation as part of AB109. Macias was later booked into the Fresno County Jail. He spent nine days in custody and was then let out as part of a Federal Court Order Release.
Macias is 33 years old. He is 5’9”, 180 lbs. with brown eyes and a shaved head. He has a tattoo on the top of his head and one on his left cheek. He is an active gang member.
